The Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Officially Opened The The International Seaweed Symposium in Bali

Monday, April 22nd, in Bali Nusa Dua Convention Centre (BNDCC) exactly at 10.00 a.m., the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries did the gong hitting as sign of the opening ceremonial of the International Seaweed Symposium (ISS-XXI). The Bali province Governor represented by Bali province secretary along with the head of marine Affairs and Fisheries department of Bali province and head of Badung regent and head of Marine affairs and fisheries of Badung Regency with all the staff.
According to location monitoring there are about 1.000 people crowded the venue of Nusa Dua Ballroom, consist of 620 symposium participants, 59 accompanying persons and 350 invitations of exhibition participant and promotion of “Gerakan Sehat Makan Rumput Laut” to prove to the world about national seaweeds potention, as now as the biggest supplier of tropical seaweed in the world.

In his speech, The Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries said that “the blue ocean” program and Fisheries industry Upstream In order to increase value added to all commodities of fisheries and marine, that is in cultivation sector, fisheries coating industry, and other industry with fisheries and marine base.

He also stressed the need of good organizing field especially for seaweed commodity that become a big interest for last few years. So, the planned target can achieve and give a positive contribution to the welfare of seaweed farmers in the future.

Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries is the main support in this big event where the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries directly accompanied by Director General for Processing and Marketing, Mr. Saut Hutagalung, Director General of Cultivation, Mr. Slamet Subiyakto, Director of Business and Investation, Mr. Made Artajaya.

This event is a business and scientific meeting involved all representative from stakeholders in seaweed community all over the world.
